Buying and Selling Questions

How do I choose a center console for fishing and family use?

Choose a center console by testing its layout against both kinds of day you plan to have: fishing with your usual crew and spending time aboard with family. Walk through seating, shade, boarding and gear storage before comparing optional equipment. The right layout is the one that works for your passengers and routines, not simply the longest list of features.

What it depends on

Write down who normally comes aboard and what you bring. Then walk through an ordinary day on each candidate boat: boarding, loading bags, finding a seat, reaching refreshments and moving around when fishing gear is out.

Check the layout in both modes

  • Where will everyone sit while underway, and what handholds are within reach?
  • Does shade cover the spaces your passengers will use?
  • Can cushions and removable tables be stowed without filling the gear lockers?
  • Can anglers move around the console with the family seating in place?
  • Is there a practical place for wet gear, food and personal bags?
  • Does the boarding arrangement work for your regular passengers?

Check the actual boat’s capacity and equipment documentation. A model’s optional layout may differ from the one in a listing. Also confirm the boat’s fit at your intended storage location before narrowing the shortlist.

How we help

Browse center consoles for sale, then send Silver King Yachts two or three examples with your usual crew size and how you split fishing and family trips. We can discuss the layouts shown in those listings and the questions to check at a viewing.

Common questions

Can a fishing-focused center console work for family days?

It can, if its actual seating, shade, storage and boarding arrangements suit your passengers. Look at the installed layout, not only the model’s promotional photographs.

Should I choose the biggest boat on my shortlist?

Size alone does not decide the fit. Compare the working layout, storage arrangements, equipment condition and how you will handle and keep each boat.

Are all features shown on a model page included?

No. Model pages may show optional equipment. Ask for the specification and included-equipment list for the particular boat you are considering.
