Buying and Selling Questions
Where can I buy a used Freeman boat?
You can buy a used Freeman privately or through a yacht broker who works with the brand every week. Silver King Yachts lists new and pre-owned Freeman boats from the 28 up to the 47, has completed more than 100 Freeman transactions, and arranges private sea trials near qualified buyers or a visit to the factory in Charleston, South Carolina.
What it depends on
The model and how you run it. A Freeman 42LR carries 800 gallons of fuel and cruises at about 1 MPG, which suits long offshore runs. The 43 and the 47LX are wider boats with more room to move. Start with where you fish and how many people are aboard.
New build or pre-owned. A new Freeman can take two to three years to deliver, depending on the model. A pre-owned boat can be on the water this season.
How the boat was optioned. Two boats of the same year and model can be very different boats once engines, electronics, seating and add-ons like a Seakeeper are counted. The listing tells you part of it. A survey and a sea trial tell you the rest.
How we help
We work closely with the Freeman factory and with new-build clients, deposit holders and buyers waiting for the right pre-owned boat, so we see both sides of the market. With our partner Coast to Coast Marine we are the only outfitter to have installed a Seakeeper gyro stabilizer in a Freeman, using a dual-unit system, which means we know which upgrades are practical on a used boat and who can do them. We keep Freeman boats available for showings and sea trials around the country.
